Description: Skyhorse Publishing, one of the fastest growing independent publishers in America, is looking for a passionate, self-motivated, and efficient intern to work in our editorial department in our midtown Manhattan office. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of the outdoors and can effectively manage their time across multiple projects.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and grow in this industry.

Responsibilities may include:

•Assist editors in preparing manuscripts for production by reviewing edits
•Guide books through the production process, ensuring that titles are on-track for publication
•Complete relevant forms for author payments and metadata.
•Compose back cover copy and catalogue copy
•Evaluate proposals, write reader’s reports for submitted manuscripts, and help brainstorm new book ideas
•Research potential contacts and authors in the industry

Hours: flexible, about 28-29 hours, 5 days per week
Length of Internship: Immediately through August
Requirements: •Passion for both the outdoors and book publishing
•Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and very well-organized
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Location: New York City
