Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The trade editorial department and Liveright imprint at W. W. Norton & Company seek bright, detail-oriented, and reliable candidates who enjoy reading, write well, and, above all, want to learn about book publishing, to participate in our Spring 2018 internship program, which will run from January through April.

Interns in these departments are asked to do everything from read manuscripts and proposals to write reader’s reports, assist with permissions for forthcoming books, handle galley mailings, draft catalog and jacket copy, and perform basic office tasks like filing and copying. In general, their job is to help the editorial assistants move projects along from the manuscript stage all the way to publication.
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Location: New York, NY
Application Due Date: December 8, 2017
Payment: $13/hour
How To Apply For This Internship: If interested, please e-mail a cover letter, resume, and a reader’s report of a recently published book (last 10 years or so), all collected into a single attached file, to Ashley Patrick (apatrick@wwnorton.com). In your cover letter, please include your weekly availability for up to 20 hours per week. Reader’s reports are usually about 1-2 single-spaced pages in length and should include a brief synopsis, a discussion of any editorial concerns, a consideration of the book’s potential readership, and any other relevant insights about whether the book is worthy of publication.

Our application deadline for the spring term is December 8, 2017.
