Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W. W. Norton & Company is seeking an intern from May to August 2018 to assist with print and digital editorial projects in the Composition and Literature departments. The internship will offer insight into the editorial, marketing, and sales aspects of textbook publishing. Tasks will vary, but will include:
• Assisting with preparation of manuscripts and electronic ancillary materials
• Researching market data
• Cataloguing and organizing digital assets
• Organizing book review programs
• Performing database work
• Researching artwork and primary source texts
• Formatting documents
• Assisting with various stages of production
• And other day-to-day office duties.
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Candidates should have strong research and writing skills, be detail-oriented and organized, be comfortable working independently in an office environment, and have an interest in learning about textbook publishing. Those with an interest in writing and rhetoric are especially encouraged to apply. Specific work hours are flexible, but interns usually work 3 or 4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.
Location: New York, NY
Payment: $13/hour
