Description: Melville House interns assist in all matters of the business, gaining a sense of how publishing works at a small, independent house. Typical duties include mailings, database management, research, assisting with screening submissions, book promotion, proofreading, and general office tasks. Interns are also regularly invited to sit in on editorial, marketing, and production meetings. The program is an excellent introduction into the professional expectations and requirements of the publishing industry.
Length of Internship: Interns are expected to commit to 20 hours a week for the full term of the internship. The Spring internship will run through mid-May. Applicants should include in their cover letter all scheduling requirements and/or preferences.
Requirements: The internship position requires an individual who is responsible, professional, versatile, and game.
Location: Brooklyn, NY
