Title: Editorial Assistant - Full Time
Description: Diversion Books is currently seeking an editorial assistant to join its small but growing team in New York City. This person will provide both editorial and administrative support for two senior-level editors as well as lend support to the production team. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, has a professional manner, and exceptional oral and written communication skills. We are seeking someone who is creative, flexible, and has a can-do attitude! Previous administrative work and publishing experience is strongly preferred.
Requirements: -Bachelor’s degree
-Excellent verbal/written communication skills
-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-Ability to work as a member of a team
-Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks and work independently
-A creative thinker who is always on the lookout for new, more efficient ways of doing things

Responsibilities include:

-Evaluating proposals and writing readers reports
-Researching trends and competition, including comps
-Fielding and evaluating unsolicited submissions
-Writing sales, marketing, catalog, and flap copy as well as tipsheets
-Generating P&Ls and other sales reports
-Collaborating with all in-house departments (publicity, marketing, sales, production, design, etc.)
-Coordinating the editorial and production process, including management of production schedules
-Communicating with authors and agents
-Providing administrative support, including scheduling, copying, filing, mailing, etc.
